Life Transitions

Life is full of transitions, big and small, planned and unexpected. Examples of life transitions are:

  • “Adulting” after graduation
  • Changing careers
  • Relocating
  • Relationship changes
  • Coping with infertility, illness or disability
  • Becoming a parent
  • Empty-nesting or retiring
  • Becoming a caregiver for older parents or others
  • Death of a loved one

Life transitions are prime opportunities to seek support.

Many of these turning points come with some emotional turmoil and changes in the way we think about ourselves and live our lives. While friends and family may have strong views or emotions about changes in your life, therapy provides you with a neutral but supportive space in which to navigate the journey.

Therapy will help you:

  • Explore your values, goals, and identity as you approach big life transitions
  • Grapple with excitement, disappointment, and stress related to change
  • Do some course correction and make decisions as needed
Life Transitions

As a therapist, I understand that some life events, like “traditional” marriage, are celebrated in our society, while others may be met with indifference or painful disapproval. I also recognize that some life events are private or less visible, but still feel “huge.”

My intention is for you to feel seen no matter what type of life change you may be experiencing.
